This soothing, warm, and exotic-tasting drink will take your taste buds on a trip to Kenya without requiring you to ever leave your kitchen! 🙂 And, for the Trim Healthy Mamas out there, this recipe fits nicely into the S category!
1/16tspred cayenne pepper
1/4tspcardamom(a heaping one!)
1/4-1/2tsphoney or Truvia(or adjust to your own taste)
2black tea bags
Using your favorite mug, measure out 2 “mugfuls” of water, pour it into a small saucepan, and set the burner to high heat.
Tear the strings off of two black tea bags and drop them into the pot with the water.
Next, add the cayenne, ginger, and cardamom directly into the pot.
Once the water reaches a boil, remove the pot from the burner. Being careful not to tear them, squish the teabags with a spoon to encourage the steeping a bit.
Remove the teabags when you are satisfied with the concentration of the tea.
Add vanilla to the pot.
*At this point, you can strain your tea through a coffee filter to get rid of the loose spices, if that bothers you. I leave them in there.
Finally, fill up a mug with tea, splash in some cream and honey/Truvia to suit your tastes, and enjoy taking your taste buds on a little trip to Kenya without ever leaving your kitchen!
