    Servings
    2mugfuls
    Ingredients
    • 1/16tsp red cayenne pepper
    • 1/4tsp cardamom(a heaping one!)
    • 1/4tsp ground ginger
    • 1/2tsp vanilla extract
    • 1/4-1/2tsp honey or Truvia(or adjust to your own taste)
    • 2tbsp heavy cream
    • 2 black tea bags
    • 2“mugfuls” water
    Instructions
    1. Using your favorite mug, measure out 2 “mugfuls” of water, pour it into a small saucepan, and set the burner to high heat.
    2. Tear the strings off of two black tea bags and drop them into the pot with the water.
    3. Next, add the cayenne, ginger, and cardamom directly into the pot.
    4. Once the water reaches a boil, remove the pot from the burner. Being careful not to tear them, squish the teabags with a spoon to encourage the steeping a bit.
    5. Remove the teabags when you are satisfied with the concentration of the tea.
    6. Add vanilla to the pot.
    7. *At this point, you can strain your tea through a coffee filter to get rid of the loose spices, if that bothers you. I leave them in there.
    8. Finally, fill up a mug with tea, splash in some cream and honey/Truvia to suit your tastes, and enjoy taking your taste buds on a little trip to Kenya without ever leaving your kitchen!
