Leather water bottle holster

8 / 29 / 169 / 1 / 16

Long time no see, friends! The last time we talked, I was looking forward to warmth and all the summery blog posts that I could write about camping; travelling; and red, white, and blue things. Now I’m anticipating crunchy leaves, pumpkin spice everything, and back-to-school crafts! Though I haven’t written anything this summer, I have about a million things I’ve already made in my head that I can’t wait to share with you, the first of which is a (mostly) hands-free way to stay hydrated: a leather water bottle holster you can make from an old belt and a purse strap. 🙂

Reusable produce bag knitted from old t-shirts

11 / 20 / 153 / 22 / 16

The leaves are falling fast, there’s a chill in the air, and eggnog- flavored things are making an appearance on store shelves. Fall is almost over, y’all!  At least according to the outdoors and Wal-Mart. But I’m gonna hold on to it as long as I can! On my to-do list are:  making my own pumpkin puree, decorating the trailer, and finding a good way to eat patty pan squash. Lots to do! I have managed to check one thing off the list, though, and it was knitting up this awesome reusable produce bag from old t-shirts while entertaining myself by watching The World of Peter Rabbit and Friends on Youtube. Yep. That last item was on the list. You got here just in time!

Do you remember that show that used to be on PBS? If you want the first-time experience or a trip down memory lane, click here for the full episode! (You’re welcome 🙂 ). Man, these never get old, but I can tell I have juuuuuust a little because I no longer see Mr. Macgregor as the enemy.

Shadowbox: Made from an old picture frame and pallet wood scraps

Good afternoon friends! I don’t know about you, but my week has been full of good things. I had some sushi, learned that it’s not ok to crop people’s fingers out of pictures while editing, bought some beets that I’m going to bake into a cake (we’ll see how that goes), and FINALLY made a shadowbox frame for the moths I drew  🙂 .

Gilded shadowbox with hand drawn moths inside

The entire day I have been drawing a blank on what to say about shadowboxes or how to tie a tidbit of my weekly experiences back to shadowboxes. They are pretty uninspiring all by themselves. One thing I just couldn’t get out of my head, though, was that I painted my shadowbox gold which clashes with every single wood-paneled and country-flower-bedecked corner of our trailer. So that got me thinking about what other items in my house are kinda out of place, strange, or just plain ironic. And so here you have it: a photo diary of the odd collections, decorations, and storage habits of the Mullennex family for your enjoyment.
